“It is a myth that bloating in the stomach is from fluid accumulation in healthy adults, because the abdomen is not a place where fluids accumulate first,” Jensen says. “Instead, you would see it in your feet or ankles as long as you are upright.”
So what causes gas to accumulate and wreak havoc on how you feel and look? Here are answers from experts plus their stomach-slimming advice.
Three easy tips that will help you achieve the desired flat stomach:
Drink More Water
Your belly will be flatter if you discharge fluids.
You can do this by drinking more water, for the body needs more water when is dehydrated.
It is very good to try drink no less than half of your body weight measured in ounces.
Here is example, if you weigh 120 lbs. you should drink 60 ounces of water every day.
Reduce Salt Intake
Very known fact that salt is very important and healthy additive, but its high amounts can lead to water retention and disproportion of salt and water, which will further on cause bloating.
Excessive amounts of salt will also enter your body through processed foods, including snacks, fast foods, frozen dinner etc.
Stop Chewing Gums
To keep your flat belly, you should avoid chewing gums.
This is due to the fact that when you chew gum, you gulp air which then goes into the stomach and it becomes bloated. Interestingly, but sugar- free gums are even worse.
