There is a research of scientists from the University of Umea, Scotland, found that herpes doubles the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
Herpes simplex virus 1 is especially dangerous for the elderly because their immune system is weaker and is therefore ideal for the spread of the virus, which can cause swelling of the brain and stimulate the development of Alzheimer’s disease.
In the study which lasted eleven years, 3,432 respondents participated, and in the nine-year study 360 people with Alzheimer’s disease were involved.

The results showed that the brain creates a plaque, the brain cells gradually die and the link between them breaks, which can cause memory loss and affect the ability of thinking.

It usually occurs due to stress or disease, nesting in the nervous system,” said lead researcher Hugo Lovheim.
