Tell Me Your Age and I’ll Tell You the EXACT Number of Hours You Need to Sleep


Many studies have been performed to pinpoint the amount of sleep we really need, but the National Sleep Foundation recommends that your age is a determinant as to how many hours you should sleep.

They created a chart that shows the minimum and maximum amounts for a healthy sleep as well as those that are considered “recommended” in which experts agree.

Here’s what the chart says:

• Newborns that are from zero to three months should have 14 to 17 hours of sleep each day.

• Infants aged four to 11 months should enjoy 12 to 15 hours of sleep.

• Toddlers from one to two years of age should have at least 11 hours to 14hours of sleep every day.

• For preschoolers, three to five years, recommended sleep range is from 10 to 13 hours.

• Children who go to school should have at least six hours of sleep up to 13 hours.

• As for teens aged 14 to 17, they should have at least eight hours of sleep to 10 hours if possible.

• Adults starting from 18 to 25 years old should have seven to nine hours of sleep. The same amount goes to adults who are 26 to 64 years old.

• For older people who are at least 65 years old, seven to eight hours of sleep will suffice.

• The number of hours for sleeping above is a guideline you can use to know whether you are getting enough sleep daily.
